About this work

Description

Burroughs Wellcome & Co. desk/hanging calendar illlustrated with tales of folklore and including annotations by the calendar's owner.

Each tale of folklore is countered by a modern remedy in the form of a Wellcome product. For example, one of the folklore tales suggests catching a falling leaf would protect a person against colds and other ailments in the winter, however, the Wellcome product Sudafed is proposed as a much more effective modern treatment. Another example from folklore oulines the Navaho belief that the making of a small sand painting could help to heal a sick child, however, it is proposed that the Wellcome product Calpol is a good alternative for pain relief in modern times.
