Description

Channel chart of the thorax and abdomen, woodcut illustration from Cai ai bianyi (The Mugwort Gatherer's Companion), published in 1805 (10th year of the Jiaqing reign period of the Qing dynasty). In this image, the paths of the channels of the thorax and abdomen are shown by vertical lines on a schematic outline drawing of the torso. The central line represents renmai (the Director Vessel, also translated as Conception Vessel); the lines to either side represent the kidney channel of foot shaoyin, the stomach channel of foot yangming, the liver channel of foot jueyin, the spleen channel of foot taiyin and the gall bladder channel of foot shaoyang.
