About this work

Description

This extremely watchable and atmospheric film portrays the dramatised case histories of three patients suffering from combined anxiety and depression and the main methods of treatment used for these patients. It begins with a scene of a middle-aged woman cutting her wrists with a razor blade in a public toilet. Then we follow the case of a successful business man who has begun to suffer from anxiety attacks, and another whose anxiety attacks have led to him being confined to his house for 12 weeks. This latter man is portrayed in great detail including hypnotherapy sessions and flashbacks to the events in his childhood which may have led to his feelings of fear and panic. A final case study is of a young woman and highlights how important patient / doctor communication is in order to find effective treatments for depression and anxiety.
