Description
Material covering 1968-1973 comprises correspondence with William N Creasy (former President and Chair of Burroughs Wellcome & Co USA and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund) although it is mainly Creasy's letters to Cresswell. Creasy's letters cover, in detail, company business, products and individuals, plus some personal and family matters. They cease in Mar 1973 (Creasy died the following year).
From 1978-1988 the letters are from various correspondents to Cresswell in the USA and, from 1981, when he had returned to the UK appointed to the Board. Includes letters from A J Shepperd, Sir David Steel, Denis Greenhill, Peter Upton, Iris Evans, John Vane, Fred Coe, Fred Wrigley, George Hitchings, Bill Castell, Harry Mendelson and Edit Creasy. Includes Cresswell's correspondence covering his decision to leave the company in 1987, with his views on the structure of the Board of the Trust.

Biographical note
In 1981 Cresswell returned to the UK to join the Board of the Wellcome Foundation, taking charge of Wellcome Biotech, Animal Health and Research and Development. He left the company in 1987.
