About this work

Description

Possibly German or French. One soldier wearing striped pyjamas sits with his arm in a sling. Another soldier with a large moustache lies in bed with traction apparatus hanging from a gallows above him to raise him up. Around the bed stand four nurses (of whom three wear the Red Cross) and three men (two in uniform). A notice above the bed and a tin of biscuits in the foreground may, when enlarged, reveal by their language the nationality
