Sleepwalk terrors.

The second in a series of four programmes looking at some of the more unexpected workings of the mind. This part looks at some of the shocking things people can do while asleep and asks what we're capable of doing in our sleep. Beginning with the case of Jules Lowe who murdered his father while asleep. Initially he was arrested for murder and nobody believed his claims that he couldn't remembeer anything about the murder until he mentioned he was a sleep-walker and sleep experts were brought in to test his sleep patterns. This and other similar cases are dramatically reconstructed and experts give their views on how such shocking unconsciously performed acts can happen. We also hear about other sleep disorders such as REM sleep behaviour disorder and night terrors. Susan Cope, for instance, has nocturnal sleep-eating disorder and often gets out of bed and raids the fridge and freezer in the middle of the night, while Juliet Bennett has such violent night terrors that she has run from her bed rapidly enough to smash through 5 windows. Dennis Watkins suffers from 'sex somnia' and regularly has sex with his wife while asleep - for James Bolton this same condition led to his being accused of raping a female friend who stayed in his flat.
