About this work

Description

File consists of papers and correspondence related to the seminar on "The Early History of Renal Transportation", which was held at the Wellcome Institute on 30 September 1994. The seminar was part of the Wellcome Witnesses to Twentieth Century Medicine meetings also known as the Witness Seminars. Unlike most other seminars, the transcript of this seminar was not published and the reason given was that the proceedings of "Renal Transplantation", because many of the speakers repeated well known anecdotes and accounts, added little fresh information or interpretation.

Details of the seminar correspondence, primarily between the organisers (Professor Bill Bynum, Sir Christopher Booth, Dr Stephen Lock and Dr Tilli Tansey), and others include:

List of participants (witnesses), lists of attendees, and typed introductory sheet.

Correspondence with seminar attendees, requests for information and comments from attendees and non-attendees including; Nancy Anderson; Dr Max Blythe; Raymond Carroll (Consultant Urological Surgeon); Dr Mark Jackson (Wellcome Unit for the History of Medicine, Manchester); Professor Horace Judson; Peter J. Morris (Nuffield Professor of Surgery); Dr Moulin (Inserm U158); Professor K.A. Porter; Thomas Schlich (Institut f. Geschichte d. Medizin); Tony Stark (Series Producer, "Knife to the Heart"); Professor O.L. Wade; Dr Chen Yuxin (Second Department of Surgery, Ehime University, Japan).
