Receipt-Book, French: 19th century

Collection of medical, cookery, miscellaneous and household receipts: in French. Written partly on the rectos only, and mostly by the same hand. There are a few entries by later hands: one of these is dated 1820. The receipts are of a very mixed variety, and include many for cakes and sweet-meats, methods of catching and cooking fish, wine-making, etc.

1 volume 134 ll. (last 2 bl.). 4to. 20 × 15 cm. Loose in a limp vellum cover from part of a legal document in French dated 1690. A number of leaves have been torn out at the beginning of the MS., and a few at the end. Some leaves slightly damaged.
