Smoking related diseases

Copies of correspondence between Avery Jones and members of the Royal College of Surgeons on the subject of whether the College should make an authoritative statement regarding the link between smoking and lung cancer, correspondents include Sir Russell Brain (1956) and Professor Robert Platt (1959). Also includes a letter from Austin Bradford Hill in response to Avery Jones' letter of congratulation upon his having been awarded the Ochsner Award for his work with Richard Doll on smoking and lung carcinoma and a letter from Lord Wyatt of Weeford disputing the link between smoking and lung cancer.
