About this work
Description
Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625), English composer, virginalist and organist. "A portrait hanging in the faculty of music, Oxford, is thought to be an eighteenth-century copy of an original dating from about 1620, perhaps that bequeathed to the Oxford music school by Gibbons's 'scholar' John Hingston in 1683" (Oxford dictionary of national biography)
