Description

Correspondence with The London Press Exchange Ltd (responsible for drafting advertisements), and specimen advertisements, in respect of an advertisement that appeared in the British Journal of Surgery.

Inner folder marked "Penicillin in Warfare" containing drafts of TRC advertisement for the British Journal of Surgery. Advertisements coded FT1911a, FT1911b, FT1911c, with copies of the final "pull" (with associated correspondence). Also in the inner folder, a letter (6 July, 1944) from Dr Frank Hartley to The London Press Exchange, thanking them for dealing with the advertisement for the British Journal of Surgery and providing a detailed brief for another advertisement "which we desire shall be dignified and sober in its claims, yet asserting adequately our contribution to the production of penicillin in this country."

In addition, a cutting of a newspaper report from "The Times of Ceylon Sunday Illustrated" (19 November, 1944) headed "British Production of Penicillin / Supplies To Be Made Available For Civilians".
