About this work

Description

This is a compilation of the two sides of a record. One side is a musical performance of Marin Marais' composition of a musical description of a surgical operation on the bladder ('Le tableau de l'operation de la taille'); the music accompanies a narration of the surgery itself. This is a modern interpretation of the original work created 250 years ago. The other side is entitled 'A Representative's Visit', a dramatised meeting between a general practitioner and a Norgine sales representation. The sleeve notes indicate that 'you can listen at your leisure'. Normacol is a laxative and the representation extolls its virtues.
