Notes

Katja Seaton comes from Stockport but originally from London. She spoke about coming back to London and feeling like a tourist. With that in mind she had decided to take 60 pictures whilst up on the plinth and send them as postcards to people she knew. She described moving to New York because she needed to change her life and felt like she was unable to do that here. She said she had felt in a rut, spent too much time 'partying' and had secretarial jobs - she trained in fine art at Camberwell College of Art. She also spoke at some length about life in New York (which she loved), and learning to decorate cakes (she worked at the Cup Cake Cafe in Manhattan) using buttercream. S. Overall it appears she does not regard herself as a 'proper' artist, even though what she does is very creative. She said she was also interested in interiors and would like to work on objects such as chandeliers, for which she would need another workshop. She taught children art who have fallen along the way and has restarted her business in Stockport making and decorating cakes.
