A fundraising film by Population Concern narrated by Richard Briers. The title refers to the prevailing view that the global population had grown to 4 billion people (circa 1974). Photographic stills are used with vox pops (sound bites) from the general public which indicates the prevailing opinion by the English public, that population growth is a problem caused by other countries such as China and India. The consumption of an average Britain is mentioned and our reliance on overseas imports especially food. Urban sprawl and roads eat up our agricultural land. The global situation is predicted to be dire. However, even in Britain it is concluded that many families are bigger than desired. Population Concern aims to provide information about family planning as a key human right.
