About this work

Description

Frank Rowntree discusses some hazards with regards to driving from a recent report. Other than drinking and driving, Rowntree talks about personality disorders such as irritability. He also mentions that many drivers are unaware that some prescription drugs will effect driving ability. The report has been published specifically for doctors to make them aware of this. He mentions youthful drivers and careless drivers. He talks about 'driving licences for life' with some concern.

Francis St. D. Rowntree 1928-1996 was awarded the OBE in 1986. In 1987 he was appointed Vice President of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and also Vice President of the Institute of Health.
For a period in the 1970s, Frank Rowntree was the Health Education Officer for Sheffield. He was invited into the BBC Radio Sheffield studios for a regular short weekly health spot.
