About this work

Description

In the decades leading up to the Second World War, geneticists around the world devised various conflicting nomenclatures to describe blood groups. Notation for Rh was controversial because two different notations based on different genetic theories were proposed. Rh notation was particularly critical because the system was clinically very important, and so in order to reduce the potential for confusion in research and clinical transfusions, attempts were made to agree on a consistent international nomenclature.

The papers below include letters on Rh notation from many distinguished geneticists.
