The Maternity Alliance was formed in July 1980 to work for improvements in rights and services for mothers, fathers and babies. It aimed to promote the interests of parents and babies and act as an independant forum for discussion amongst all those with an interest in policies for maternity and in the services offered before conception and during pregnancy, childbirth and the first year of life.
