Description

Sir John Badenoch talks to Sir Gordon Wolstenholme about his early life, education and career. He had a Rockefeller scholarship in 1941 and went to the USA to study medicine at Cornell University. There he received his MD and returned to Oxford in 1943 to take his BM exams. He ran his father's practice for some time and in 1949 was back in Oxford where he later became Director of Clinical Studies in the Oxford Undergraduate Clinical School. He talks about his time as a teacher in Nuffield College, Oxford, and his role in overseas medical schools in Sri Lanka, Singapore and India. He said he would like to see Britain doing more to help young doctors from those countries that came here to get more training.
