About this work

Description

In the published text, Lavater remarks upon this character's piercing look which "retains and appropriates to itself every external object which it seizes, but has no internal productive resources". The mouth shows good taste, eloquence, and voluptuous features. "The ascending angle of the lip is not natural, and for that reason, disgusting"
