Biographical note
Project Summary:D&G (Design and Gerontology) will focus on bio-gerontology, using the science of ageing to inspire up to 40 young people to design and translate ideas into an exciting clothing collection. The young people will present their ideas to a panel of expert scientists, fashion designers and elderly people and the 20 winning designs will go into production, being shown at a fashion show, and exhibition and website at the end of the project. Exploring the process of ageing and examining key biomarkers, the young people will learn about the ageing process and translate this information into garments which demonstrate the biomedical facts of ageing. They will work with fashion industry professionals and top designers who will lecture the young people in choosing textiles, creating prints and forming shapes that will express and interpret the ageing process.
