About this work

Description

Graham Easton investigates what causes miscarriages. Most miscarriages are sporadic - only 1% of women have 3 or more consecutive miscarriages. One area of research is into anti-phospholipid syndrome and use of Heperins and Aspirin. So far, not enough is known about possible genetic causes, but some women may have a particular susceptibility to infections. Dr Graham Burton is studying oxygen levels at the very vulnerable 8-12 week foetal stage, when there is oxidated stress in the placenta.
