Description

Aphorismi (incomplete). Written in a neat upright gothic book-hand. Large initial in blue at the beginning of each 'Particula', other capitals in red, or tinted in yellow. (Begins) (red) PRIMA PARTICVLA AFFORISMORVM.///[V]ITa breuis. Ars vero longa. Tempus acutum experimentum/fallax... (End) Ex inflammatione epatis singultus malum. The last Aphorism is No. XVII of Section VII in Haller's 'Artis medicae principles', p. 492. (Edit Lausanne, 1787. Vol. I.).

1 volume Scroll. 269 1/2 x 11 1/2 cm. On vellum. Some margins slightly frayed. The end is wanting.

Purchased at Sotheby's 11/6/1923, Lot 95.

Biographical note

The 'Aphorismi' were first printed, as part of the first edition of 'Articella', at Padua, c.1476 [G.K.W. 2678].
