Description

11 May, 1959. Statement of Case, by Appellant (Stanley Hope, Valuation Officer), in which it is stated (point 9): "Since the hereditament was erected alterations and additions have been made and the use of parts of the hereditament has been varied to suit the requirements of the occupiers. As at the date of the said proposal the proportion of the floor space used as Offices was considerably greater than the proportion so used originally and the proportion used as a Museum was considerably less, and the hereditament had become occupied by the respondents and their several Associated Companies." Point 12: "The section of Euston Road between Kings Cross and Gower Street has undergone a gradual but substantial change in character in the last 30 years by the amalgamation and redevelopment of many sites with substantial buildings for offices and quasi commercial purposes, and this change is extending to the general surrounding area." Point 13: "The appellant will contend that the hereditament should be valued as if vacant and to let; and that comparison may properly be made with other hereditaments in the locality."
