II Character of Trade III tffater Supply : (i) Source of supply as for the town of Cowes. There is a pipe line from the aer Head. Sources of private supply are at the iontoon (Isle of >7ight Steam Packet Co.,) Messrs. Marvins' Shipyard and the Cas Works. IV Port Sanitary Regulations 1933. (i) Declaration of Health Received by the Customs Officers and sent to Port Medical Officer. (ii) Boarding of vessels - Medical Officer works in close co- operation with Custom'e Officers and Naval Control who will take him off to any suspected ship. The Ministry of Health's weekly circular relating to infected ports and infection abroad are always placed available for Customs Officers. (iii) Mooring Stations for detention of Ships. (a) The Roadstead of Cowes within Local area of jurisdictia (b) Medham Buoys in River Medina. (iv) Infectious cases can be landed to and isolated in the Isolation Hospital in the Island by arrangement with the Joint Hospital Board and the County Medical Officer of Health. The Fort Medical Officer continues to pay occasional visits to Transports at temporary anchorage off Cowes if requested to do so by Naval control. Non-infectious cases requiring treatment on shore have been landed at Cowes. Care is taken not to land infectious cases from ships anchored outside the area of jurisdiction. (v) Bacteriological and pathological Examinations are carried out by arrangement with the County Laboratory at Newport I.W. (vi) Cases of Venereal Disease are reported to the County Clinic at Newport. Cases which cannot attend the Clinic owing to lack of time or opportunity have been treated by the fort Medical Officer. No cases of Infectious disease were landed at the rort during 1941. V. Measures against Rodents. No special measures were taken against Rodents. VI. Hffgiene of Crews Spaces. Nothing to report. VII. Food Inspection. This is done by the Town Hanitary Inspector. -1-
