Notes

Janet Hicks is from Watchet in West Somerset. She was entered to take part by her daughter. She studied theatre and English at Plymouth university so has some experience of performing. She now runs a shop. She is going to wave and say hello, then read some poetry. She failed her eleven-plus and was unhappy about her lack of education so studied as a mature student. After which she worked delivering newspapers, then worked with young people with difficulties. She would like to let her creative side out more but feels the need to be practical and earn a living. Her family and raising funds for multiple sclerosis are important to her. She loves words and will be reading some William Wordsworth and Sylvia Plath poems. The last three years have been horrible for her because of the financial recession and she hopes the future is more pleasant. She was interviewed on local radio for the project.
