This Anglia TV programme looks at the strategy of Mutually Assured Destruction as cruise missiles were about to be sited in East Anglia, United Kingdom. East Anglia would be a very likely target for a pre-emptive attack and the programme looks at the likely effect of H bombs falling on military targets there. Some context about how the Cold War started is included. There are plenty of vox pops from members of the public responding to the threat of a nuclear war. Part two covers the powerless position most would be in in the event of a strike especially as there are 5 US bases in the East of England which makes the region particularly vulnerable. The booklet, 'Protect and Survive', is shown as well as some clips from British Government Civil Defence films from the 1960s.
