Description
1 autograph letter, signed, from one Henry Newman, describing Sloane's life after his retirement to Chelsea, his visits to the nearby coffee-house and collection of curiosities (which was run by his former servant, James Slater (fl.1723)), the transfer of his collections from his house in Bloomsbury and visits to them by George II's daughter Princess Amelia (d.1786), and Newman's need to consult Sloane about asthma brought on by London smoke.
