    Guardians; but, as a class, I suppose that farmers are not more easily worked upon than the trades¬ men who act in this capacity in towns. A clergy¬ man from a remote country village writes to me thus: “I sincerely trust the Workhouse inquiry may lead to something, for our country Work- houses are the very dread of the poor, which surely they ought not to be, at least to the aged and infirm.
