About this work

Description

Including re: controversial issues surrounding BSE, CJD and the 'beef crisis', bovine TB, fluoridation of the water supply, the global food economy, information and the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Foods, nutritional value of popular 'junk' or 'fast' foods, chemicals and pesticides in food, the beef industry and the 'cattlization' of Central and South America by multinational corporations.
File also includes press cuttings reviews of Tory MP Teresa Gorman's book Chickengate (published in 1990) in which she "thinks we are all suffering from Mad Porritt Disease, lurching from one supposed environmental crisis to the next" these she sees as further hyped up by "credulous politicians, crypto-socialist do-gooders and self-interested bureaucrats". Also articles accusing celebrities such as Pamela Stephenson of "theatrical antics" (Stephenson was criticised by the British Nutrition Foundation for what they termed her "self-indulgent neurosis" in 1990).
