About this work

Description

A documentary about Hayley Okines, a four-year-old British girl with progeria, a rare ageing disease. Children with progeria age about eight times faster than other children and experience early hair loss, a slow growth rate and joint pains. She is one of about forty children in the world diagnosed with Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome, and she meets many of the other children at a yearly reunion in the United States. We also see her normal routine, such as hospital visits and her first day at school. See also: 'The child who's older than her grandmother' (2005), a follow-up documentary, shelfmark 3009V.
