About this work

Description

The three rows of outer auditory hair cells stained to show the actin concentrating in the stereocilia. The hair cells are found in the inner ear and are part of the organ of Corti in the cochlea. The stereocilia bend in response to sound vibrations and transduce this signal to an electrical impulse carried by the nerves to the brain.
