Biographical note
The Association of Clinical Cytogeneticists (ACC) is the UK professional association for clinical geneticists. It was founded in 1974 to promote the advancement of clinical cytogenetics in Great Britain, increase collaboration between similar societies internationally, to develop and maintain professional standards, and provide government advice on clinical cytogenetics.
The ACC includes committees on education and training, professional standards, and membership liaison. The Association is run by an elected Council, which includes the Chairs of the committees and representatives from affiliated groups such as the Association of Genetic Technologists. The ACC Chair is elected from the Ordinary members of the Association.
In 2012, the Association for Clinical Cytogeneticists merged with the Clinical Molecular Genetics Society to become The Association for Clinical Genetic Science.
