About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Massive Transition style. It was produced by a girl of about 12 years of age who was a Social Services patient. She also produced the artworks in PP/RSI/B/2/4/2 and PP/RSI/B/2/3/47. Rita Simon found this artwork fascinating from a diagnostic point of view. She saw the left side of the artwork as representing the emotional world and right side as representing the outer world, with seepage from the inner to outer world. The girl appeared to be very withdrawn because she had been taken into care. This information has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.
