Notes

Martyn McEvoy was born in Yorkshire and currently lives in Greatham North Hampshire. He has an extensive background in performing, having studied Opera at the Royal College of Music. After graduating he joined the English opera group, and performed and toured with professional companies including Saddlers Wells. He dislikes the pomposity that surrounds opera, believing it is an art that should be enjoyed by all. This led him to set up his own company 'Crystal Clear Opera' through which he aimed to get across to the public just how wonderful music is and how it can change you. On the plinth he will be asking observers for a topic and will use this to write and perform an opera. He plans to bring up a microphone and amplifier and hopes to use these to get the whole square singing.
