Matthew Battersby is from Pensby in Wirral. He likes Gormley's accessible art. He is going to be playing chess, he is a chess coach and a landscape gardener. He is going to be playing a grand master of chess, Keith Arkell. He is then going to play people in the crowd and tell the story of chess and the importance of children playing chess. He finds that chess is beneficial for any children who feel disadvantaged; that it raises self esteem and teaches about concentration and consequences and not judging people. His dad taught him to play chess. He wants to promote chess for everyone, not just as an elite game. His chess board looks like a sail on a tripod. He is wearing a t-shirt saying "play chess, play the world". He was born in Birmingham, he began teacher training but changed to study biology and geography then became a surveyor. He then became a landscape gardener. He also coaches cricket.
