Description

'The operative treatment of intra-thoracic effusion, by Palmam qui meruit ferat [Norman Porritt]', being the essay for which Porritt was awarded the Fothergillian medal by the Medical Society of London in March 1883 (see Lancet 1883 Vol. i, p. 43). The essay is illustrated with sketches, and inserted at p. 113 is a red india-rubber drainage tube. Pp. 254-338 comprise an appendix of case notes drawn from the author's experience at L[eeds] General Infirmary and H[uddersfield] Infirmary, 1880-82.
