Description

Plate IX, Copperplate engraving. The upper and lower jaws of an 8-9 year-old child. (Fig. 1,2,3) The five teeth in the half of each jaw of a 7-8 month old foetus (Fig. 4) and the same teeth further advanced (Fig. 5). The teeth of an 8-9 year-old child, showing the five temporary teeth in a more advanced stage with the successor adult teeth forming. (Fig. 6) 'The Natural History of the Human Teeth: explaining their structure, use, formation, growth, and diseases' by John Hunter, 1771.
