Description
Mainly in Low German, but with entries in Latin, French, Dutch, Italian and English. There is one receipt in English on pp. 170, 171 'A Made or artificiall Champene Wyne'. There are also some veterinary receipts, and others for varnishes, inks, etc. Pp. 285-end have a separate title 'Sonderbahre Köstliche Medicamenta', and seem to be by a slightly later hand.

1 volume 2 ll. + 362 pp. + 1 bl. l. folio. 30 × 20 cm. Original red morocco-gilt binding. Finely executed pen-drawn historiated title-page, with unidentified coat of arms.

Ownership note
On a lower panel of the title page is the signature of 'Dr. Lucae': and his armorial book-plate lettered 'S. C. Lucae M.D.' is pasted on the inside of the upper cover. This is Samuel Christian Lucae [1787-1821] of Frankfort, where he was professor of anatomy in 1812: he was afterwards appointed professor of pathology at Marburg in 1815. Signature of Borgmann [?] 1838 in pencil on the first leaf. Phillipps MS. No. 11729.
