Notes

Rachel M Denton comes from Lincolnshire. Talks about the Stylites who were hermits living on pillars in 5th century Syria, St Simeon in particular. She is going to be a Stylite for an hour and has received the permission of the Bishop to do this. She is like a nun and has taken a vow of poverty, chastity and solitude to worship God and lives the life of a hermit. Her life is dedicated to prayer. Tried to be a Carmelite nun but found living with other women difficult then became a teacher for a while.
