About this work

Description

Eighty years' research into the pharmacology of histamine and sundry reflections on the conditions most favourable to creative scientific research are presented in the form of a fictional country-house symposium gathered by Sir John Colum, featuring, among others, Paul Ehrlich, (Roy Dotrice) Sir Thomas Lewis, Sir Henry Dale, Sir James Black, Dr. Charles Code, Professor William Feldberg and Prof. Daniel Bouvet (1907-1992) - the last four appearing in person. Fascinating for its pharmacological content, but extremely artificial and contrived in its design, and occasionally verging on the grotesque in its exaggerated deference towards the Great Men of Science.
