Dhal [sic] pinx. G. Vertue sculpsit 1730 Translation of lettering: John Freind M.D. principal physician to Queen Caroline. To whom the Delian [i.e. Apollo] gladly gave his own arts, his own gifts: knowledge of the lyre, and of the beat of the leaping vein [i.e. the pulse], and the quick practice of healing
