    MINUTES of the Thirty-ninth Annual General Meeting of the Subscribers to the West Cornwall Miners’ Women’s Hospital, held at the Hospital at 3.15 p.m,, on Tuesday, 28th May, 1940. Pkesent. Hards, Thomas, Berriman, Opie, Maclaren, Wickett, Beauchamp, Tippett, Veale, Hayrnan; Miss Grylls, Miss Lanyon; Eevs. Canon Ladd Canney, F. Inwood, E. C. Horler; Major Ford; Drs. Blair, Hale; Messrs. Berriman, White, W. J. P. Thomas, S. T. Bowden, G. C. Willis, Veale, J. B. Webster, W. J. T, Peters, J. C. Penberthy, C. O. Batty, G, Tyacke, T. H. Moyle, H. Bich, W. J. Opie, J. Arthur, W. H. Griffin (Hon. Treas.), E. Pope (Hon. Sec.), E. J. Enstice (Asst. Sec.). The President said that since their last meeting the Hospital had lost through death Mr. A. Pearse Jenkin, for many years associated with the management of the Plospital and a Trustee, and that notice had been received of the death of Mi’s. Edward Trounson of Bath, whose funeral was taking place that afternoon. Mrs. Trounson had been an old friend of the Hospital and he felt sure those present would wish their sympathy conveyed to the family. Those present stood in silence. Apologies. Apologies were received from Sir Hugh Molesworth St. Aubyn, Mrs. Treve Holman, Mrs. Pendarves, Mr. Pengilly, Mrs. C. E. Tyack, Bev. H. A. J^enaton, Mr. & Mrs. E. Trounson, Mr. G. P. Paige, Mrs. Ladd Canney, Bev. A. T. Udy, i\liss L. James, Mr. D. W. Thomas. 1. Minutes. On the motion of Mrs. Maclaren, seconded by Mr. Batty, the Minutes of the Meeting held on 15th May, 1939, were confirmed. 2. Annual Bepoet. The President moved the adoption of the Annual Beport of the Committee as read by the Honorary Secretary, with the addition of the Medical Staff list. He said that the Beport could not be compared with former years, but from the point of view of a normal year, the outstanding event certainly was the opening of the Hospital and the munificent gift by Mr. Thomas to the funds. There were few causes in Cornwall which have not benefitted by Mr. Thomas’s unfailing generosity. He hoped the construction of a Nurses’ Hostel would not be long delayed. He congratulated the Matron on the splendid start she had made for funds for the Hostel, and expressed high appreciation of the work done by the Hospital Women’s Guild. They were extremely grate¬ ful to them for all they were doing. He endorsed the thanks expressed in the Beport to the Group Secretaries of the Hospital Contributory Association for the work they had done. The results achieved by the Committee for the securing of further financial support for the Hospital, and especially the results of Mr. White’s efforts, showed what could be done in the district. The Bev. Canon Ladd Canney seconded the motion which was carried unanimously.
