    Water Supply. The supply by the Hartlepools Water Company has been adequate in quantity and of satisfactory quality throughout the year. As reported previously the supply from existing boreholes is gradually being replaced by other supplies of slightly softer water from boreholes sited further inland. The Companies’ Engineer and General Manager reports that up to the end of 1958 four boreholes had been sunk and three were in commission with the fourth in commission shortly. A fifth borehole is being sunk, all at Dalton Piercy. Naisberry pumping station was operated continuously during the year. The output of the Lancaster Road borehole has been reduced. All domestic water is from underground sources though some industrial water is supplied from upland reservoirs.
