Description

A woodblock printed treatise on surgery by Honma Sōken, also known as Genchō, covering a number of Honma’s surgical practices, including an amputation of a gangrenous leg undertaken in 1857, in katakana-majiri script, with coloured illustrations by an unknown artist. It was privately published by the author in 1859, and distributed for sale by Izumiya Kin’emon of Edo and other commercial publishers in Kyoto, Osaka and Nagoya.
