Representations of the manner in which the foetus is nourished in utero, also a view of the membrana decidua discovered by the late Dr. Hunter. See system of midwifery. ... Lettering continues: "In figure 41, an opening is made into the uterus, to shew the placenta and membranes, with the vessels coming from the mother, to the foetus. Figure 40, is a portion of the spongy parts of the placenta, dissected off, that those vessels may be more completely seen. Engraved for the Royal Encyclopœdia"
