    THE INTERNATIONA QUARANTINE CONFERENCE OF PARIS ‘ IN 1851-2, 1850, upon the invitation of the French Republican Government, - ^as agreed among the different States which had coast possessions or close to, the Mediterranean, that an international Conference tthe subject of quarantine be held in Paris. Delegates, medical and consular, attended from France, Great ttain, Austria, Russia, Sardinia, Tuscany, the Papal States, Naples, r key, Greece, Spain, and Portugal.t r’he omission from such an inquiry of the United States, which i d have afforded the most valuable information on some leading nits, was, I think, much to be regretted. A Report of the proceedings of the Sub-committee, that was appointed by •.'Council on February -23, 1859, for the consideration of the whole subject : larantine, was read by Dr. Milroy, secretary of the sub-committee, at the s • time as this paper, which was prepared at the suggestion of some of the mem- The sub-committee had framed a series of queries, embracing the various • 3 requiring elucidation, and on which authentic data were most desirable. • e queries had, on the application of the Earl of Shaftesbury, then President of ’’ublic Health section of the Association, been submitted to the Foreign and nial Secretaries of State, and by these ministers sent to all British consuls ft id, and to the governors of all our colonies. The Directors-General of the •y and Navy Medical Departments had also transmitted them to the principal ccal officers of both services on all foreign stations. om these channels a large amount of most valuable information had been med, more than ninety replies having been received at the date of the ling at Bradford.
