About this work

Description

Cervical carcinoma (a cancer arising from the epithelial cells). This is cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) III of the cervix. This biopsy shows full thickness dysplasia of the ectocervix, and is graded as CIN III, in situ carcinoma. From the basal layers to the surface, all the cells are abnormal and dysplastic, and there are mitoses. It is in situ carcinoma because it has not invaded through the basement membrane. H&E stain.
