Lettering

Lambs conduit, Snow Hill. Formerly occupied the spot on which two still more ancient stood: The first was erected in 1498, the second by Mr. Wm. Lamb. a gentn. of the chapel to Henry 8th and like this, distinguished by a lamb upon the top: These conduits were of singular benefit to the metropolis before the new river supplyed it. Sr. Cr. Wren was the archt. ; see Stowe page 20 and Pennant page 221. From a drawing in the possession of the publisher.
