About this work

Description

Visualisation of calcium during development of Drosophila embryo. The embryo was co-injected with Ca-sensitive dye calcium green dextran and Ca-insensitive rhodamine-dextrin and confocal images taken. The image is of a cortical glancing section of the anterior pole. Ca waves initiate at the anterior pole and propagate to the centre of the embryo. A topographical image - the height of the image and the false colours both indicate the concentration of calcium.
