About this work

Description

Oliver Morton reports on the 1995 World AIDS Conference, presenting filmed extracts from the following sessions: The Virus, Vaccines, Gene Therapy, The Costs, Prevention. Among those taking part are Pamela Gillies (public health researcher), Mark Pozansky (clinical researcher), Robin Weiss (virologist), Norman Letvin (virologist), Alan Stone (Medical Research Council) and Mead Over (World Bank). Conference members are shown taking part in discussion sessions and in informal discussions over meals. A major issue is the likely cost of an AIDS vaccine and the inability of Third World countries to afford such treatment, should it become available.
